2012 Program Overview

2012 Fortune Brainstorm Green Program Tracks

The 2012 program—again led by key members of Fortune's editorial brain trust including Senior Editor at Large Brian Dumaine and Contributing Editor Marc Gunther—will focus on the following program pillars:

Business Transformation

Focusing on sustainability has helped many companies reduce their energy usage, eliminate waste and save money. Others have discovered ways to drive revenue growth by selling greener products or inventing new business models. How can sustainable thinking enhance the bottom line?

Energy and Climate

As the world warms and weather patterns worsen, the energy industry is rushing to find low carbon sources of power.  Natural gas is cheap, abundant and controversial. Will gas crowd out coal, wind and solar?  Will electric cars catch on with consumers?  Will society need to turn to geo-engineering to counteract climate change?

Green Technology

In the quest to make our cities, towns, homes, and transportation more sustainable, information technology will play an increasingly crucial role.  A number of innovative, cutting edge companies are rewiring the economy by placing intelligence into our entire infrastructure. How will it all work?

Natural Resources

With 10 billion people expected on earth by 2050, will there be enough food, water, land and minerals to go around? Businesses that learn how to operate in a world of scarce resources will be best positioned to prosper.
